We still receive questions about Saent Buttons often, even though it's been many years since the latest production run. Below you will find answers to the most common questions we receive.

We still receive questions about Saent Buttons often, even though it's been many years since the latest production run. Below you will find answers to the most common questions we receive.

TL;DR

  • All buttons are sold out.
  • There's no production run planned at the moment.
  • The old Saent software (to connect to the button) doesn't work anymore.
  • Lifeline, our new macOS application, will connect to the button in the future (but not yet).

That's the short of it, below more context.

All buttons are sold out.

We've sold through two production runs of buttons and shipped out our last inventory in the first half of 2017. Soon after that, our business model got stuck, since we were not making enough margin from the buttons nor the software to initiate a third production run. 😥

There's no production run planned at the moment.

We're currently 100% focused on creating a new Saent macOS application called Lifeline (you can download it here in the App Store). Software has always been at the center of our vision, complemented by physical products. To deliver on this plan, we first need to get the software right before adding hardware products.

The old Saent software (to connect to the button) doesn't work anymore.

Even though many people loved the original Saent desktop software, it had a lot of issues. Both from an architectural point of view, as well as from a UX perspective.

Because of the technical architecture, we cannot continue support for the server infrastructure required for the original software. As such, the Saent 1.0 application is not available for download anymore. If you have a copy running on your computer and it still works, then make sure you don't log out if you want to keep using it.

Lifeline, our new macOS application, will connect to the button in the future (but not yet).

Lifeline currently doesn't connect to the button, but we will connect it in the future. We actually believe the UX of Lifeline is better suited for synergies with the button than the original software. But, we first have to make sure it's working well before adding complexity by connecting the button.
